PDR – Can I really do a marathon?
I’m not ready to formulate any decent thoughts about the PDR other than to say I’m very disappointed but I’ll live to PR in 2009.
So the down and dirty:
1 – 8:24
2 – 8:37
3 – 8:31
4 – 8:12
5 – 8:58
6 – 8:53
7 – 9:02
8 – 8:52
9 – 9:11
10 – 8:55
11 – 8:30
12 – 8:26
13 – 8:44
13.45 – 4:10 (9:16 pace)
Time: 1:57:32
Avg Pace: 8:57
It was very sunny, I was sweating like a pig and I died in the last half mile.
I went out way too fast, slowed down, picked it up and bonked.
Forgot to mention … the legs, they feel 100% perfect. Back to normal. Damn shoes!
Alright, so normally I like to list my finishing stats here but since the PDR screwed up my results, I’ll use Lisa Ann Cooney, a 39 year old woman from Philadelphia who ran the exact time as me, 1:57:32.
Overall: 5319/13254 (40.1%)
Age Group: 285/1023 (27.9%)
Gender: 1718/6745 (25.5%)

And glad the legs are better!
Of course you can do a marathon! Looks like you hit it on the nose, that your pacing was off. Too fast at outset. Wasn’t your goal 1:57? If so, I bet anything if you had been at 8:44 pace in the earlier miles, you would have made same time but felt much better about it.What was the temp? It’s amazing how much of an effect direct sun has. Pray for a cloudy day for the marathon.
Soooo glad the legs are better w/your new shoes! As for the marathon, you’ve said it here several times – this race was just that, a race. It wasn’t your goal race and it wasn’t your goal distance. You did the right thing by taking it easy and not stressing about the time too much. Recover up and look forward to some strong weeks ahead.Nice job Jill!
